Prof. Alain Branchereau at his EVC farewell party in 2009

In Memoriam Professor Alain Branchereau

It is with great sadness to announce that Professor Alain Branchereau passed away on May 2, 2023.

Alain Branchereau was a famous and leading Professor of vascular surgery in Marseille, France, and co-founder of EVC. In the early nineties, Alain and I discussed the idea of creating a training and education course for (young) vascular surgeons. In 1997 we organized the first edition of EVC in Marseille and continued to do so until Alain retired in 2009.

We lose a great friend, a fantastic surgeon and a wonderful human being.

Our mission is to train and inspire!

We look back at a fantastic 26th European Vascular Course (EVC), attended by delegates from 53 different countries.

Beside the high level state-of-the-art lectures on arterial, venous, vascular access and cardiovascular topics, we organized 315 workshops on surgical anatomy, diagnostics, medical management, decision-making, simulation, open and endovascular techniques and team training.

The statistics, outcomes of the questionnaire, photo gallery and EVC movie are now available on our website.

Driven by this continuous enthusiasm and eagerness to learn, we are committed to design a great program again for the 27th EVC, taking place on March 3-5, 2024.
